Go to start of metadata - The repository shall have a definition of each AIP that is adequate for long-term preservation, enabling the identification and parsing of all the required components within that AIP.

The internal structure of Merritt AIPs is defined by a particular configuration for a CAN (Content Access Node)-based storage node. CANs distribute content objects in a tree structure expressed in a hierarchical file system. The structure of the branches of this tree conforms to a Pairtree formed by the object's primary ARK identifier; the structure of the leaves of the tree confirms to the Dflat specification using ReDD for file-level backwords deltas between object versions.
